historical development: R. L. Jowell Lumber Company was listed in the Lumbermen?s Credit Rating Book, October 1934 as sawing and planing lumber at Frankston. This company may have evolved from Jowell & Billingsby or Jowell & Houston, both of which had been manufacturing lumber in Frankston as late as the early 1930s. This may have been the sawmill that M. Cooper remembered in Frankston about 1918. He believed its name was ?Lee Joel Lumber? and that it had four company houses.
