Historicial Development: J. L. Williams and Alexander Young formed the Globe Planing Mill Company in 1878 and performed valuable service to the major lumber mills in Beaumont. In 1880, its product value was $85,000. Lightning was responsible for a fire in 1885 that destroyed one small building. The mill disappears without notice from history, either sold to a local, larger firm or perhaps moved to a later Young and Williams mill. By 1884, Alexander Young was sawmilling at Warren and Woodville, Tyler County.
