Historicial Development: The Kelly & Nolins sawmill was listed in Subdistrict 155 for Walker County in the 1880 Census. The Census recorded the d capital value of the facility at $4,000. Kelly & Nolins employed sixteen men at peak production and twelve normally. They were paid $1.25 to $2.50 daily for ten-hour shifts. The firm paid out a total of $3,000 in wages for twelve three-quarter time months of operations. From $8,250 worth of sawlogs and supplies, the facility manufactured 1,500,000 feet of lumber for a value of $15,000.
