The firm had been operating at New Caney since 1928. Burton McDonald, the elder McDonald's son and eventual successor to his father's company at Kirbyville, was one of the three owners. Elijah Ernest McDonald, according to The Jacksonville Journal in 1947, began his sawmilling career at Rebecca in 1908.
