W.M. Gibbs was the last mill superintendent for the Carter-Kelly Lumber Co.in Manning. After his death the Gibbs home and land was sold to the Flournoy family. Although the town survived many mill related set backs the town began to break up after a fire forced the mill to shut down in 1935. A two story structure, enlarged in 1927, this house is one of the few remaining physical reminders of the Manning community. Located 10 miles south of Huntington on FM 844
